What is our strategy to fit in the global market while streaming platforms are changing the rules in the TV and film industries?In this panel we invited experienced producers to share their experience in co-production, including common issues that might happen, possible ways to resolve them, notable tips and the advantages of engaging in the global market.
Roger Huang is an experienced producer in Taiwan. His production works include Detention, The Village of No Return, Zone Pro Site, “Jump Ashin”. He also has abundant experiences working with cross-national projects, such as line producer of “Double Vision” and the Taiwan producer of Korean films: The Spy Gone North &Yaksha: Ruthless Operations. His capability to execute and carry out truly speaks for itself. Roger is currently preparing for the Taiwan-Japan co-production film “Youth 18*2”.
Justine O., born and raised in Taiwan, is an independent film producer. She worked in a Chinese production company, Xstream Pictures, from 2014 to 2020 as a personal assistant and producer to Jia Zhang-ke. She also contributed to the establishment and the coordination of Pingyao Film Festival in 2017. The latest films she produced include: "The Last Queen" (2022; by Adila Bendimerad & Damien Ounouri, Venice - Authors Under 40 - SPECIAL MENTION Award); “GAEY WA’R” (2021; by Na Jiazuo, Cannes Official Selection - Un Certain Regards ); “Life After Life” (2016; by Zhang Hanyi, Berlinale - Forum; MoMA New Directors/New Films; HKIFF Best Film Award); “Mountains May Depart” (2015; by Jia Zhang-ke/ Cannes Official Selection - competition).
An international film producer and founder of MA STUDIOS with years of experience working on co-production projects. Numerous films that she produced earned successful festival runs, including Pour la France (2022), American Girl (2021) and Taipei Suicide Story (2020).
After graduating from Fine Art Master at Chelsea College in London, as a producer and commissioning editor, Joyce has been in the documentary and drama field and different media platforms over a decade. During the period in PTS Taiwan and Taiwan Creative Content Agency, Joyce has focused on different subjects from environmental to social issues, such as "A Town called Success", "The Island of 1000 violins", "Raw and Cooked", "Teenage Psychic" and etc. Also, Joyce has worked with various international co-production projects with Arte, French TV, NHK, HBO ASIA in the recent years.
