Inspired by an unsolved true crime case in Taiwan. On New Year’s Eve at the turn of the millennium, Shaw Jackalman, an ordinary vault security manager, steals TWD 800 million worth of gold and cash from Zhao Shang Financial Holding Company, the wealthiest bank in Taiwan. After his arrest, the theft is labeled “the impossible heist” and Shaw “the greediest scum”.Despite the evidence suggesting an open and shut case, as well as pressure from both authorities and mobsters, Shaw Jackalman never admits to the crime, and how the theft was committed and the whereabouts of the money remain a mystery.
