In Taiwan, Matsu is the iconography of a mother. Days after days, the fishermen fight against the storm and chase after the fish, facing the wrath of the ocean and unpredictable danger, the anxiety grows naturally. With Matsu’s affection ate love, and empathy of a mother, she is the protector of the fishermen community.

Every four years on Matsu’s birthday, the usually conservative fisherman town turns up to complete their sea pilgrimage in the name of Matsu. As everyone rejoice in this appeasing god and amusing human festival, the goddess of the sea swept through the negative power of the sea, blessing the fishermen years of safety and good harvest. This is an arrangement initiated and carefully fabricated by the people. Tens of thousands of people are brought together to participate in this celebration with the gods.
