VR FILM LAB is the first experimental VR theater in Taiwan. Opened in 2018, the theater consists of a VR360 cinema with 30 seats and 2 interactive zones.

When the red tail reminds the boy of his own memory and sadness, what are the secrets hidden behind, and where will they lead him next?“Madame Pirate: Becoming A Legend” - In a lawless world overrun by roving ships and ruthless men, a girl propels herself from a life of forced prostitution, to command the largest and most successful pirate fleet in world history. A grandma narrates the bedtime stories to her granddaughter. It turns out that those stories are more than bedtime stories. They are Madame Ching’s incredible real life story.
“ASMR” - Euphoria (εὐφορία), is how the ancient Greeks define “transcendental bliss” and “the emotional surge of satisfaction”. To this day, people still venture into drug usage for a forbidden taste of such sensations. Whereas ASMR is reaching the euphoric and pleasing feeling in the mind and the body through visual, audio, and tactile stimuli, and allowing the person to enter a state of deep relaxation. “Kaohsiung VR FILM LAB Originals Support Program” - With the goal of encouraging creators to explore the boundary between visual and the VR medium, Kaohsiung VR FILM LAB Originals, a VR incubating platform, has funded 25 Taiwanese and international co-production VR projects. Every Originals project premieres at Kaohsiung Film Festival. The VR FILM LAB then showcases the original projects, offering them both a distribution channel and chances of reaching the audience. Kaohsiung Film Archive then continues to support the Originals through advising their festival plans and assisting both domestic and international screenings at museums, festivals, and other XR industry events.
VR FILM LAB will focus on the production and talent cultivation in the future. Inviting international talents to Taiwan, we keen to enhance the connection with the international creators’community and tap into further collaboration.

The theater consists of a VR360 cinema with 30 seats and 2 interactive zones. Operated by Kaohsiung Film Archive, VR FILM LAB plays an important role in education and promotion of cinematic VR titles. Each year, the VR FILM LAB Theater curates 4 seasons of thematic programs, with the 4th highlighting the winning projects of the KFF VR Competition. The VR FILM LAB also collaborates with local arts and culture industries, influencers, and interdisciplinary experts to explore concepts and issues presented in the immersive works, with the goal of reaching and building audiences, and building a resilient XR ecosystem in Taiwan.
